Willamette Valley • Oregon
This Pinot Gris is part of our “Appellation Collection”, a series which we focus on a well-renowned appellation known specifically for a single established varietal. The 2019 growing season resembled conventional Oregon summers and falls, as temperatures remained mild and steady with no concerning heat spikes. Early onset fall rain created a challenging harvest, shortening pick times however, timing harvest with sun breaks provided ideal hang-time for sugar/acid development, increasing complexity and flavor concentration.
The Willamette Valley, a well-distinguished and established appellation - 150 miles long and up to 60 miles wide, protected by the Coast Range to the west and the Cascades to the east. The Willamette Valley has a temperate oceanic climate, which features cool summers, and wet winters with frequent overcast and cloudy skies; precipitation varies considerably across the valley and is closely correlated with elevation. The fertility of the soils is derived from a series of massive ice-age floods that came from Lake Missoula in Montana and scoured across Eastern Washington, sweeping its topsoil down the Columbia River Gorge.
Artfully crafted, this Pinot Gris carries Vibrant aromatics, zesty mouthfeel and delightfully refreshing. Enjoy forward floral aromas of sun basked honeysuckles, bright acidity, and nuances of fresh cut melon. Our vineyard first philosophy opens the door to true regional varietal character.
