Monterey County, California
Sitting just north of the old Salinas River on top of the rocky soils comprised of decomposed granite, quartz and thick coastal fog, you’ll find our KW Ranch Vineyard. It’s no accident that our KW Vineyard is planted among many of the most established and notable estates in the Santa Lucia Highlands, known for cultivating what many say to be the location of the most flavorful and intense fruit of any vineyard planted throughout the Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH).
Our wines are crafted from a vineyard first philosophy, and therefore our winemaker can be found right in the vineyard, partaking in harvest. The uniqueness of SLH Vineyards can be noticed directly in the wine – expressive minerality and vibrant acidity align beautifully with the characteristics of both the variety and terroir of the region.
Dark reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, cola, spice, sweet pipe smoke and even a hint of diaper. Full-bodied, with a delectable sweet black cherry core accented with notes of spice and stem. The fine-grain tannins are modest and the wine tempts with a pleasing finish.
All of our fruit arrives in the winery via refrigerated trucks. We hand sort all fruit before adding to the fermentation tanks. 60% whole cluster, native fermentation, hand punchdowns, minimal additions.
